Team Science

Frustrated that all the big funding opportunities have a short window? Feel like you need more time to bring together a team and think on well-designed approaches to research projects?  Wishing you had support to bring people together to brainstorm, thoughtfully seek out opportunities, and fill in areas of missing expertise?

In CALS, we’re creating supports that help you to build that high-functioning team so when the RFP drops, you’re ready to go.  The CALS Academy for Team Science, CATS for short, presents a multipronged approach to teambuilding.  We’re making available two seed grants for $40K each, with no limitation on topics and no request for a detailed budget.  Your job: convince the reviewers you have a great topic for research and a good plan for assembling a team.  We’ll also award five additional teams up to $5K to prime the pump.  That’s the beginnings of seven new teams!

Once selected for funding, members of all seven teams will be involved in training opportunities during the upcoming academic year.  The Office of Research and Discovery will also support your team to connect with program directors at funding agencies and partners from industry.

More detail can be found via the ‘news’ column at the CALS -> Research -> For Researchers website.

Go apply!  We’ll cheer for your team.
